Lamborghini To Electrify Current Models By 2025 And Launch Fully-electric Car Before 2030
Italian sports car maker Lamborghini has announced its plan to launch a fully-electric car in the second half of the decade.
The next 10 years will see Lamborghini transition to hybrid models as well as the launch of a fully-electric car.
Italian supercar maker Lamborghini on Tuesday presented its transformation program which includes its plans to decarbonize its models by 2025 as well as the launch of a fully-electric Lamborghini in the second half of the decade.
According to Lamborghini, the next 10 years will see a transition to producing hybrid models before the launch of a fully-electric car in the second half of the decade.
In a statement on Tuesday, Automobili Lamborghini’s President and CEO Stephan Winkelmann, said :
“Lamborghini’s electrification plan is a newly-plotted course, necessary in the context of a radically-changing world, where we want to make our contribution by continuing to reduce environmental impact through concrete projects,”
Lamborghini’s roadmap comprises of three phases, the first of which will see the company launch two new cars in the V12 model line-up. The two models will be launch in 2021 and 2022.
In the second phase, Lamborghini said : “In 2023 Lamborghini will launch its first hybrid series production car, and by the end of 2024 the entire range will be electrified,”

Lamborghini added that :
“Performance and the authentic Lamborghini driving experience will remain the focus of the company’s engineers and technicians in developing new technologies, and the application of lightweight carbon fiber materials will be crucial in compensating for weight due to electrification. The company’s internal target for this phase is to reduce product CO2 emissions by 50% by the beginning of 2025,”
The third and final phase would see the Italian sports car maker launch its first fully-electric Lamborghini vehicle in the second half of the decade.
“The second part of the decade will be dedicated to full-electric vehicles,”
According to Lamborghini, all current cars, including the Huracan, Aventador and Urus SUV, will be hybrid only by end of 2024. The company also said the development and launch of new 12-cylinder models will end by next year.
Lamborghini CEO also hinted that the first fully-electric car coming after 2025 will be an all-new model and likely with four seats, adding that it will be more sports cars than SUV.
