Mercedes-Benz Gives G-Wagon The Professional Treatment (Photos)

Well, this isn’t the 1st G-Wagon professional model we have seen as the previous model had it way back in 2016, but this new model is even better.

Instead of the regular 22-inch alloys, side exhausts, and silly chrome accents seen on the G63, the Professional gets a host of exterior features more suited to off-roading. These include stone guard grilles for the headlights, front and rear mudflaps, and 18-inch alloys with chunkier tires. In addition to the basic features mentioned earlier, it also comes with a roof rack and a Professional spare wheel holder.

Mercedes say that they will offer more packages to make the spec-ing process easier for customers. For the exterior, that includes an Exclusive Line and AMG Line, while the interior will offer Standard Line, Exclusive Line, and Superior Lines.

On the engine, say bye-bye to the 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 as it has been dropped for a more “professional” diesel powerplant which is not as powerful as the V8 but it gets the job done. The output is a 3.0-litre straight 6 turbodiesel engine that outputs 281hp. Mercedes-Benz still retains the 9G-Tronic transmission that is also used in the G63 AMG.

Despite being a professional model, the G350d is still as luxurious as before as it comes with a majority of all the G-Wagon goodies fitted including rear-seat entertainment and a 64-colour ambient lighting system (option).

Rumours are flying around that the professional trim may be integrated into the Mercedes-Benz SUV lineup but only time will tell.
