The Toyota Supra Will Be Phased Out In March Of Next Year

The last Toyota GR Supra will leave the production line in March 2026, the Japanese automaker announced. That theoretically gives US buyers just six months to get their hands on a custom-made example, though in reality, the order book will close much sooner.
The current generation car (co-developed with BMW) debuted in January 2019. Production of the BMW Z4 will also end in 2026—both cars are built at the Magna Steyr plant in Graz, Austria—and the two companies have no plans to resume their sports car collaboration any time soon.
But that doesn’t mean it’s the end of the road for the Supra name, which first appeared back in 1978 on the top-of-the-line Celica. Rumors, and even Toyota itself, suggest that in 2027 we’ll get a new Supra based on a new platform that will keep the front-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout but replace BMW’s powertrains with Toyota’s 2.0-liter turbo generating around 400 hp.
