“I Don’t Know If Tesla Will Be There For Another Ten Years,” Former CEO Of Stellantis
Tesla is facing several challenges, and former Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares is unsure if Tesla will survive it all.
2025 isn’t necessarily a year Tesla will likely look back on favorably, but things seem to be picking up again. This year, Tesla faced significantly lower sales than expected, partly due to CEO Elon Musk’s political escapades. There has also been considerable competition, both Chinese and non-Chinese, over the years. Carlos Tavares questions whether Tesla can withstand this headwind.
According to Automotive News, Tavares sees two major threats: the Chinese and Musk. “I don’t know if Tesla will still exist in ten years. They’re an innovative group, but they’ll be defeated by BYD’s efficiency,” says Tavares. He also questions whether Musk still supports it: “We can’t rule out that he (Musk, ed.) decides to leave the auto industry to focus on robots, SpaceX, or artificial intelligence.”
