The New Audi RS5 Had A Very Successful Start To Sales
The new Audi RS5, unveiled in February this year, has had a very successful start to sales. The carmaker announced that orders in Europe were almost double the initial estimates, making this the most successful launch in the history of the RS5. The entire planned production for 2026 has already been sold out, so customers who order the car now will have to wait until next year for delivery.
The model is now offered in a five-door body style and as an Avant station wagon. Both versions feature aggressive bumpers, wide fenders and large twin oval exhaust pipes, which clearly distinguish them from the standard models in Audi’s range.
The new RS5 is based on the PPC (Premium Platform Combustion) architecture, which is also used in the latest A5, A6, Q5 and Q7 series. It is powered by a plug-in hybrid system that combines a 2.9-liter V6 engine with two turbochargers and an electric motor. The system develops a total output of 630 hp (470 kW) and 825 Nm of torque.
A 25.9 kWh battery powers the hybrid system, and power is transmitted to all wheels via quattro drive with electromechanical torque distribution to the rear axle. According to factory data, acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes 3.6 seconds, and the top speed reaches 285 km/h.
After excellent results in Europe, Audi is starting to sell the RS5 in other markets around the world. The car is currently arriving in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and Japan and is expected to be launched in Korea, Taiwan and other countries soon.
The RS5 is the most expensive model in the A5 family, with a starting price in Germany of 106,200 euros (Avant of 107,850 euros). The car is produced at the Neckarsulm plant in Germany.
