Range Rover Update To Get Physical Buttons “Kind Of”
The big, all-powerful Range Rover began life in 2021 with a series of clear, round buttons below the touchscreen. Back then, you also found buttons next to the ‘gear stick’, including for volume and (off-road) driving modes. In 2023, those buttons had suddenly all disappeared, driven out by digital alternatives in the then-new Pivi Pro infotainment system.
Now, Range Rover is subtly bringing back some buttons, though not all of them. These are the aforementioned volume knob and the second rotary dial used to control the driving modes. The climate control, therefore, remains part of the digital environment, although its controls are conveniently located on the left and right of the screen.
Bigger news follows later this year, as Range Rover – or Land Rover – is once again talking about the electric version that has been promised since the arrival of this generation. That car has now been shown to potential customers and will be available to order ‘later this year’. So, essentially, exactly as promised, but they are keeping that promise. The long-wheelbase version will cost you a minimum of €167,055, but it is immediately even more luxurious.
The new, recently announced SV Ultra variant sits at the complete other end of the scale. It has quite literally the entire options list plus more, is only available as a P540 with a V8, and costs—hold your breath—€406,417. Ouch.
