Mitsubishi Motors has announced that its all-new cross-country SUV will be named Pajero and will be unveiled at a world premiere scheduled for autumn 2026.

The model ceased production in overseas markets in 2021, marking its first return to the global market in five years.

First launched in 1982, the Pajero was developed as a recreational vehicle (RV, now widely known as an SUV) with a new concept that combined the off-road performance of a four-wheel drive (4WD) vehicle with the comfort of a passenger car. Through four generations, the model has become one of Mitsubishi Motors’ most significant cross-country SUVs, with cumulative global sales of over 3.25 million units in over 170 countries and regions worldwide.

Pajero began competing in the Dakar Rally – the world’s toughest rally – in 1983, securing a total of 12 victories, including seven consecutive ones. Thanks to these achievements, the model has earned a reputation for unrivalled off-road performance, handling stability and proven durability as a cross-country SUV, earning the trust of customers around the world.

Set for its world premiere this autumn, the all-new Pajero is based on the extremely robust Triton (L2oo) pickup truck frame, with specific developments to the cabin and front and rear suspension. It delivers not only outstanding off-road capability but also a refined and comfortable ride.

The all-new Pajero is being developed as a new flagship model that embodies Mitsubishi Motors’ adventurous spirit and determination to face challenges.
