McLaren Launches 788HS To Close Out Legendary 720S Supercar Lineup, Limited To Just 200 Units - autojosh

Track-focused McLaren 788HS debut as the final evolution of the award-winning Supercar Series that began with the 720S.

McLaren 788HS will be limited to just 200 units worldwide—100 788HS Coupés and 100 788HS Spiders (convertible).

The HS name in the new model, which means ‘High Sport’, returns for only the third time in McLaren’s history.

British sports car manufacturer McLaren has unveiled the all-new 788HS, the definitive and final evolution of the award-winning supercar series that began with the 720S and later progressed to through the 750S and 765LT.

Available only to existing McLaren customers, the track-focused vehicle will be limited to just 200 units worldwide—100 788HS Coupés and 100 788HS Spiders (convertible), each individually curated through McLaren Special Operations.

Reserved for the rarest and most extreme series-production supercar, the HS name in the new model, which means ‘High Sport’, returns for only the third time in McLaren’s history.

The 788HS boasts a 10 percent more downforce than the 765LT, thanks to its multi-zone carbon fibre front splitter, S-Duct bonnet, raised active rear spoiler, louvred under-wing panel and Formula 1–inspired rear diffuser.

At the heart of the 788HS sits McLaren’s tuned 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8, which produces 788 PS (777-hp) and 800Nm of torque, making the 788HS the most power in this acclaimed supercar series.

The power is channelled through a 7-speed Seamless Shift Gearbox for immediate performance, allowing the 788HS to zip to 60 mph in 2.8 seconds, 124 mph in 7.0 seconds flat and onto a maximum speed of 330 km/h (205 mph).

McLaren has not revealed pricing for the new limited-edition 788HS, but the ultra-exclusive model is expected to start around $600,000 and reach up to around $1 million with extensive bespoke personalization from McLaren Special Operations.

Speaking about the new McLaren 788HS, Henrik Wilhelmsmeyer, McLaren’s Chief Commercial Officer, said it represents the ultimate expression of our supercar series that began with the 720S and becomes only the third McLaren to wear our HS designation – a fitting finale for a much loved and critically acclaimed car.”
