The photos below show some broken down trucks and those involved in road mishaps.
These break downs and the road mishap occurred within the last 72 hours in Lagos state.
In Lagos, broken down trucks have become ubiquitous sights on roads.
When these happen at such a high frequency, it ought to be a source of urgent concern to the society,
How road-worthy are these trucks?
These common sights of broken down trucks and frequent accidents involving them, is it not an indirect indictment on the competence of the VIO in the area of vehicle inspection and certification?
Is the VIO up to their responsibilities?
Since it appears that the VIO is overwhelmed or failing in its responsibility, is it not time to privatize the responsibility of routine inspection of Nigeria’s entire trucking fleet?
Or who is else is to be blamed for this high frequency of the break down of trucks on our roads?
