Bezos had visited small businesses and sites around India in early January. During the visit, he announced that the company will bring 10,000 electric delivery vans to India.
The CEO also stated that Amazon is ready to create 1 million new direct and indirect jobs with continued investments in technology, infrastructure, and logistics in the country.
As Amazon is considered India’s ‘most attractive employer’, it has created 700,000 jobs since 2013. This will make a total of 1.7 million direct and indirect jobs by 2025.
According to Bezos, ”We are investing to create a million new jobs here in India over the next five years.”
“We’ve seen huge contributions from our employees, extraordinary creativity from the small businesses we’ve partnered with, and great enthusiasm from the customers who shop with us—and we’re excited about what lies ahead.”
Also, Jeff Bezos visited Mahatma Gandhi’s tomb as soon as he arrived India.
