Another 4,000 Jobs Will Be Cut By Porsche

The German manufacturer of luxury cars, Porsche, could eliminate up to 4,000 more jobs in addition to the already announced layoffs, the German “Handelsblatt” reports today, referring to sources from the company.
According to the German newspaper, employees in the management and administration sector could be affected the most, while about 30 percent of the capacity is being reviewed in the development center in Weisach.
The company’s spokesperson did not want to confirm the specific number of jobs that could be eliminated but stated that a comprehensive package of measures to increase business efficiency is being prepared, which will be presented by the end of July, “Spiegel” reports.
“Handelsblatt” also states that “Porsche” initiated the reorganization of the sales department due to weaker sales results, and three female managers in high positions will soon leave their positions.
In May, the company also announced the shutdown of three subsidiaries, which could affect an additional 500 employees.
The executive director of the company “Porsche,” Michael Leiter, announced in March an additional reduction in the number of employees, in addition to the first package of measures.
According to earlier plans, around 1,900 jobs should be eliminated in the Stuttgart region by 2029 through socially acceptable programs.
“Porsche” is facing a slowdown in sales and a significant drop in profitability, and its profit fell by more than 90 percent in the first quarter of 2026, which increased the pressure to implement new austerity measures.
