Another Report Regarding The Sale Of Maserati Is Denied By Stellantis.

Maserati sales have fallen by 48 percent in the first quarter of 2025, leading to rumors of a potential sale by Stellantis. However, the company has denied these claims. Stellantis did so again this week when Reuters asked the company if it planned to sell Maserati amid the new rumor.

A spokesperson denied the allegations and said, “With respect, Maserati is not for sale,” confirming his commitment to the brand.

However, two Reuters sources claim that McKinsey, the consulting firm that Stellantis hired in April, may recommend that the company divest Maserati in some way. That’s reportedly one of the options McKinsey is exploring for the automaker.

According to one source, Stellantis told the consultancy to consider all options for the struggling brand. However, McKinsey is reportedly still in the early stages of its work, so a final decision on Maserati’s future is unlikely to be made anytime soon.

Another source told Reuters there was disagreement among the board over what to do with the Italian company. Some reportedly believe the brand has value for the automaker as their only luxury brand. However, others think Stellantis does not have the resources to support Maserati as it struggles to renew its offering.

Regarding what went wrong at Maserati, former CEO of Stellantis, Carlos Tavares, stated that the products were fine, but that poor marketing led to a lack of clear brand positioning.

In addition, the all-electric MC20 was cancelled after the company realized that wealthy customers still preferred IC engines. The next-generation Quattroporte, which will also replace the Ghibli, has been pushed back to 2028.
