FG Approves The Reopening Of Seme Land Border For The Importation Of Vehicles
The Federal Government of Nigeria, under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the reopening of the Seme land border for the importation of vehicles.
This was disclosed by the Director of Road Transport in the Ministry of Transportation, Ibrahim Musa, on Wednesday, June 21, 2023.
Musa, who spoke at the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) meeting organised between officials of Nigeria and Benin, said the development followed complaints by freight forwarders operating at the Seme border.
“I was here with the former Minister of State for Transportation when the Freight Forwarders pleaded that the border should be reactivated for the free movement of goods and services.
FG Commissions 130 Operational Vehicles To Assist The Operations Of FRSC
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Mr George Akume, on Friday June 23rd commissioned 130 brand new operational vehicles to assist the operations of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in road safety management.
The newly acquired operational vehicles comprises of 97 patrol vehicles, 10 heavy-duty tow trucks, 15 flatbed tow trucks, five ambulances, one 56-seat staff bus and two coaster buses.
Speaking at the commissioning of the operational vehicles in Abuja, George Akume said President Bola Tinubu is committed to transport infrastructure to enhance transformative growth.
Lagos Blue Line Rail To Commence Full Passenger Operations In August – LAMATA
The Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) has revealed that the Lagos Rail Mass Transit Blue Line rail system will commence full passenger operations in August 2023.
The Managing Director of LAMATA, Mrs Abimbola Akinajo, made this known in a keynote address at the first-ever LAMATA business/investors forum held in Lagos on Thursday.
“I am happy to inform you that we are rounding off all testing processes for the commencement of full passenger operations in August this year. Details of the operations will be announced soon,” Akinajo said in a statement released by the agency on Thursday.
LASG Seizes Alcohol Worth ₦2 Million At Motor Parks, Garages During Clampdown Exercise
The Lagos Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC) has seized alcohol worth about ₦2 million during a clampdown exercise carried out recently by its operatives.
The exercise is part of the state government’s efforts to rid garages, parks and roadsides in Lagos of illegal liquor sales and consumption by motorists and drivers.
Corps Marshal of the Agency, CP Gbemisola Akinpelu (retd) disclosed that the exercise will be continuous due to the concern of the State Government on the alarming rate liquor drinks are being sold in garages, motor parks, roadsides and in traffic.
