BMW Is Prepared To Manufacture Neue Klasse Cars In Munich
The BMW factory in Munich has completed the checks of the new production equipment and is ready to produce the next generation of vehicles. All production equipment has been installed in the new body plant and assembly line, and functional checks have been completed.
During the so-called “Common Function Test,” all systems go through tests in which production planners and technicians thoroughly examine the machines without using actual parts. Although no actual car is produced, this process ensures that everything works flawlessly.
Peter Weber, plant manager, said, “Just before the holidays, we reached an important milestone. All production technologies and equipment are ready, and we are already training our associates to produce the BMW i3.”
Series production of the new BMW i3 will begin in the second half of 2026. In just 18 months, around a third of the factory land underwent an extensive redevelopment—the old halls were dismantled, and new assembly plants, a logistics center and a body shop were built, all the while simultaneously producing up to 1,000 BMW 3 and 4 Series vehicles per day.
