BMW iX1 eDrive20 Becomes The Brand’s Cheapest EV On The Market
The electric BMW iX1 gets a new engine version that expands the range of the electric SUV downwards. This is the BMW iX eDrive20, a new engine version that will be positioned below the existing xDrive30.
The BMW X1 is available with mild hybrid combustion engines, as a plug-in, and as a fully electric iX1. Until now, we only knew that iX1 was a four-wheel drive xDrive30 with two together 313 hp powerful electric motors. There is now a new entry-level version: the eDrive20. The missing x-je in the name of that motorisation already indicates that this version does not have all-wheel drive and therefore has to do with one electric motor.
That electric motor delivers – with a temporary boost – 204 hp and kicks it up to 247 Nm. With that power, the BMW iX1 eDrive20 sprints to 100 km/h in 8.6 seconds. Its top speed is set at 170 km/h. Like the iX1 xDrive30, the eDrive20 has a 64.7 kWh battery pack in its bottom. That package gives the iX1 eDrive20 a range of – depending on the chosen version – 430 to 475 kilometers. Fast charging is possible with 130 kW.
Prices of the BMW iX1 eDrive20 are not yet available.
