The Huajiang Grand Canyon Bridge in south west China’s Guizhou Province has successfully completed its load tests, marking a key step toward its official opening to traffic at the end of September 2025.

During the last trial, ninety-six (96) heavy-duty trucks with a total of 3,360 tonnes of goods were driven and parked onto the bridge deck in batches to test the construction quality and mechanical properties of its structure.

Aerial photos taken by drones during the key five-day (August 21 – 25, 2025) load-bearing test shows the nine dozen heavy-duty trucks parked on the Huajiang Grand Canyon Bridge.

Construction began in January 2022 and upon completion in April 2025, it became the world’s highest bridge, measuring 625 metres (2,051 feet) from the bridge deck to the bottom of the gorge.
