China’s Tank 500 SUV Officially Launched To Take On The Toyota Prado - autojosh

China’s auto giant Great Wall Motors (GWM) has officially launched the all-new Tank 500 full-size luxury SUV.

It follows in the footsteps of the smaller Tank 300 and 400 models, as well as the larger 700 and 800.

The imposing SUV has a 2,850 mm wheelbase and is available in both five- and seven-seat configurations.

Tank 500 will be available in Business Edition, Sports Edition, Black Warrior Edition, and the Customized Version.





All variants of Tank 500 SUV are priced between 335,000 yuan ($52,639) and 395,000 yuan ($62,046).

Great Wall Motors (GWM) has officially launched the all-new Tank 500 full-size luxury SUV, 7 months after the Chinese auto giant unveiled the body-on-frame SUV at the Chengdu Auto Show on August, 2021.

Positioned as a Chinese Toyota Land Cruiser Prado rival, Great Wall Motors latest creation follows in the footsteps of the smaller 300 and 400 models, as well as the larger Tank 700 and 800.





The imposing SUV has a 2,850 mm wheelbase and is available in both five- and seven-seat configurations. It is 5,070 mm long, 1934 mm wide, and 1,905 mm tall.

Tank 500 will be available in several variants, including the Business Edition, Sports Edition, Black Warrior Edition, and the Customized version, all priced between 335,000 yuan ($52,639) and 395,000 yuan ($62,046).

Inside, it features a 14.6-inch landscape infotainment screen, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a panoramic roof, an analog clock, a knurled metal accents and premium switchgear.

The premium cabin also has Nappa leather covered seats that are fitted with comfort features including seat massaging, heating, and ventilation for the front and rear bench.

All variants of the Tank 500 will feature a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 engine that is paired with a 48-volt mild-hybid system. This powertrain churns out 349 hp and 369 lb-ft (500 Nm) of torque, allowing the SUV hit 100 km/h (62 mph) in 7.3 seconds.
