LAMATA : 37-km Lagos Red Line To Be Unveiled In March, To Carry 500,000 Passengers Per Day

Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) has assured that the highly anticipated Lagos Rail Mass (LRMT) Red Line will be unveiled in March 2024 as all of its infrastructure are nearing completion.

Giving an update in a video posted to LAMATA Facebook page, the agency’s boss, Mrs Abimbola Akinajo, said that the tracks for the rail system were 95 per cent completed while the eight train stations were “literally completed.”





President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is expected to commission the Red Line within the first quarter of 2024. When Red Line Rail begins operations, it is expected to carry 500,000 passengers per day.

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Federal Operations Units Zone A, Ikeja, has vowed to intensify its battle against smuggling this year as it declares making 1,119 seizures of contrabands worth N10 billion in 2023.

Comptroller of the unit, Hussein Ejibunu, made this known during a press briefing at the unit’s Headquarters in Ikeja on Wednesday, 10 January 2024,

According to Comptroller Ejibunu, some of seizures includes 139 trailer loads of foreign parboiled rice (83,170 bags of 50kg), 2942 pieces of foreign-used tyres and 132 units of foreign-used vehicles (Tokunbo)

Road Traffic Crashes In Nigeria Decreased By 26% During Q3 2023; 3,371 Vehicles Involved – NBS

Road traffic crashes between July and September, reached 2,187, indicating a decrease of 26.29% from the previous quarter (Q2), according to ‘Road Transport Data Q3 2023‘ obtained from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).





During the period, a total of 3,371 vehicles were involved in road traffic crashes in Q3 2023, which is a decrease of 26.96%.

4,625 males were injured during the period, indicating 76.56% of 6,041 injured persons compared to 1,416 (23.44%) females injured. North-Central recorded 2,548 casualties, followed by the South -West with 1,802, and South-South, the least with 281.

Ebonyi Gov Buys SUVs For All Doctors Working In General Hospitals, Hands Over 52 Ambulances

Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru of Ebonyi State has procured brand new Changan CS35 SUVs for all the medical doctors working in General Hospitals across the State to help improve their operational efficiency.

In addition, the Governor also procured 52 ambulances for all the General hospitals in the State, 20 of which have been delivered.

Each of the General hospitals in Ebonyi State will get two (2) ambulances, according to a statement by Leo Ekene Oketa, the Special Assistant to the Governor (New Media).
