Mazda MX-5 To Get A Slight Bump In Power For The 2027 Model Year

Mazda has prepared its iconic MX-5 model for the next model year (2027).
The changes are subtle, and mention should be made of the sport-oriented Homura trim level with a modified sports suspension with Bilstein shock absorbers and black 16-inch aluminium wheels, while the proven Recaro sports seats and Brembo braking system remain.
The manufacturer also presents a new special edition Yakudo for the soft-top version. This model features silver exterior detailing, a light gray cloth roof, Alcantara interior trim, specific badges and silver brake calipers.
The naturally aspirated 1.5-litre Skyactiv-G engine gets a power boost, now producing 136 hp (maximum torque: 155 Nm) instead of 132 hp, while the combined fuel consumption drops to 6.1 l/100 kilometres (previously 6.2 l/100 km) and CO₂ emissions to 139 grams per kilometre. It’s not much, but it will be felt.
Optimized engine acoustics further enhance the feeling of direct driving. In terms of safety features, the model range now comes standard with a driver inattention warning system across all variants.
A new colour, zinc green metallic, was also introduced.
The starting price of the Mazda MX-5 in Germany is 34,190 euros.
