The Canadian High Commission in Nigeria has honoured the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ola Olukoyede, with a Certificate of Recognition for his outstanding contributions to the global fight against transnational crime.





The Certificate was presented by the Canadian High Commissioner to Nigeria, His Excellency Pasquale Salvaggio, during a ceremony held at the Canadian High Commission in Abuja on Wednesday, May 21, 2025.

Salvaggio particularly cited “Operation Hot Wheels”, a joint operation spearheaded by the EFCC with the participation of the Nigeria Customs Service, which has disrupted a major vehicle trafficking network and reinforced bilateral security ties.

The Apapa Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has announced the interception of two Lexus RX Sports Utility Vehicles (SUVs) reportedly stolen from Canada and imported into Nigeria through the Apapa Seaport.

At a press briefing on Thursday, 22 May 2025, the Customs Area Controller (CAC) Comptroller Babatunde Olomu said that the stolen vehicles where found inside a 40-feet container falsely declared as food items.

“Container No. MRKU 0904594 (40 FT) was found to contain two stolen vehicles from Canada. A 2024 model Lexus RX 450 vehicle with chassis number JTJCJNGA6R2017707 and another 2023 Lexus RX 350 with chassis number 2T2BAMCAPCO32741 were falsely declared as food items.”

The Chairman of Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing Company Ltd (IVM), Chief Innocent Chukwuma, has revealed that the company’s cheapest vehicle cost about N22 million and that there are financing options to purchase its vehicles.

Innoson boss made this known while speaking on The Morning Brief, a Channels Television breakfast programme, on Tuesday May 20th 2025.

Chukwuma was speaking on the new Nigeria First Policy, which prioritises the use of locally made goods and services in all government procurement processes.

When asked about price of the cheapest car in the Innoson lineup of Nigeria-made vehicles, Chief Innocent said :

“Yes my cheapest car i have with full air condition and very rugged is about N22 million… that’s the cheapest one we have”, adding that “I give guarantee of four years on that very car because it’s too strong”, though he failed to mention the name of the Innoson model.
