Saudi Arabia’s flag carrier, Saudia, used massive trucks to move three retired aircrafts from Riyadh to Jeddah.

The retired aircrafts, aged between 25 and 26 years, will be given a new life as tourist attractions in the Boulevard Runway Zone.

During the trip, the planes were escorted by dozens of Saudi Arabia police cars, including the Lucid Air EV Police Patrol Fleet.

Saudia, the national flag carrier of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, has successfully transported three (3) decommissioned Boeing 777-200ER aircrafts by road from Jeddah airport to the capital city, Riyadh.

Instead of sending them to the scrapyard, the retired aircrafts, aged between 25 and 26 years, will be given a new life as tourist attractions in the Boulevard Runway Zone, an innovative collaboration between Saudia and Riyadh Season.

After having their wings and other valuable parts removed, the three decommissioned aircrafts were loaded on flatbed trailers, before embarking on the 530 miles (850km) trip from Jeddah airport to Riyadh.

“On our way to Boulevard Runway,” wrote Saudia, formerly known as Saudi Arabian Airlines, adding that the aircrafts will be transformed into ‘restaurants and interactive areas’.

As expected, the journey of decommissioned aircrafts from Jeddah to their final destination Boulevard Runway Zone in Riyadh, was no small feat as it required meticulous planning and execution.
