Electric Danfo Bus Unveiled By Volkswagen (Photos)
Of recent, Volkswagen has been doing electrical conversions of their past vehicles and the Type 2 bus has joined.
As one of the old automobile companies, Volkswagen transcended into constructing an eye-catching electric bus, with the use of modern technologies.
By showcasing the possibilities of the e-Golf powertrain it has triggered the classic VW model. The Company commissioned west coast electric vehicle conversion specialist, EV West, to construct an electrified 1972 Volkswagen Type 2 Bus.
Volkswagen Type 2 Bus Features
The newly rolled out Type 2 Bus has a powertrain and 35.8 kWh battery system from the donor 2017 e-Golf. The e-Bus has an approximate range of 125 miles. Also, the powertrain stays in the rear compartment, previously it was occupied by the stock air-cooled 60-horsepower four-cylinder engine. The e-Bus houses the 100kW synchronous AC permanent magnet electric motor, one-speed transmission and charging system.

Volkswagen Type 2 Bus: The Exterior
The new e-bus has most of its exterior features unchanged. The historic model of the iconic brand with modern technology makes the exterior part of the e-Bus fitted. It comes with a classically styled, multi-function digital EV look with the same look.
The Interior
Just like the exterior, most of the interior part remains unchanged. The battery reinforced and fireproof enclosures positioned under the front seats and in the former location of the fuel tank.
Meanwhile, the stock long-throw shifter has changed to an actuates park, reverse neutral, drive. It has regenerative braking modes (PRNDB) that are all common aspects of the e-Golf. Therefore, the gauge enables you to cycle through multiple views and monitor vehicle outputs.
