A seven-figure Ferrari 488 sports car which started its patrol duties with the Istanbul Traffic Police late last month has been spotted patrolling tourist areas where police can be on hand to help people.

The 488 is one of 23 luxury vehicles seized from criminal organizations around the country in November and repurposed for patrol duties on the streets of Istanbul by the Traffic Police.

Ahead of the start of their patrol duties on December 26th, Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya, together with Istanbul Governor Davut Gül and Istanbul Police Chief Zafer Aktaş, inspected the seized vehicles at Atatürk Airport.

Part of seized luxury cars seen in a video posted to X (formerly Twitter) by Ali Yerlikaya includes a Ferrari 488, Audi RS6, Bentley Continental GT and a Ferrari F8 – all of which are now kitted for police duties.

“These vehicles were given to our police by court decision. From now on, the vehicles will be at the disposal of our police and in the service of our nation, not criminal organizations.

“I would like to thank each and every one of our heroic police officers who work hard for the peace of our country. May our unity, solidarity and peace be perpetual,” Yerlikaya wrote.

The new Turkish police patrol vehicles also includes cars like the Porsche Taycan and a Volkswagen Golf R as well as luxury SUVs like the Volvo XC90, Range Rover Sport and the Mercedes-Benz GLS.
