Fixing Additional Lights On Cars/ Kekes/Okadas And License Plate Obstruction Are Offences – Police PRO

Fixing additional (decoration) lights on cars/ kekes/bikes and license plate obstruction are traffic/criminal offences – Police PRO.
NPF had earlier warned against the use of siren, revolving light, unregistered vehicles, and covered number plates.
The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has warned that the use of additional (decoration) lights on vehicles as well as the obstruction of vehicle number plates are illegal and punishable under the law.
The Force Public Relations Officer (PRO), ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, made this known while replying a Twitter user Rhemasolution1 who asked him if it is an offence to fix additional light on vehicles.
Rhemasolution1 asked :
“I have a question please. My friend who is a Keke rider met your men on the road last night. They stopped him and ask him why he used led light on his Keke instead of original one and again using it to partially cover plate number. Is that an offence @Princemoye1.”
Replying to Rhemasolution1’s tweet, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi said :
“Yes. It’s an offence to fix additional head lamps on your vehicle or bikes, and cover your number plate in any form. You see many vehicles with more than 20 head lamps. This is not allowed. It’s an offence.
“It could be seen as a traffic offence or criminal offence depending on the motif or magnitude of such alterations on your vehicle identification or documents.”
The Nigeria Police Force had earlier warned against the use of siren, revolving light, unregistered vehicles, and covered number plates, noting that police commands and formations have been directed to clamp down on violators and prosecute them accordingly.
“The use of siren, revolving light, unregistered vehicles, and covered number plates are illegal and punishable under the law. Many who use siren now are not qualified.
“Many cover their number plates while many dont even have registered numbers, yet they torment and harass innocent people on the road. All these are illegalities.”
