Ford Unleashes It’s Mustang Mach 1 Track Oriented Sportscar (Photos)
This is the new Ford Mustang Mach 1 for 2021 and its a track-oriented sports car with lots of modifications fitted. According to Ford, this is a track weapon and it will bridge the gap between Mustang GT and Shelby models. This model has returned after a 17-year hiatus and we’ll look at what makes this model awesome.
For starters, the Mustang Mach 1 is powered by a 5.0-litre V8 that outputs 480hp and 420 lb-ft of torque. Ford has added the Shelby GT350 Mustang’s higher-flowing intake manifold, its oil cooler, and its oil filter adapter, the latter two of which contribute to 50-percent better oil-cooling capability. A 6-speed Tremec manual transmission from the Shelby GT350 drives it (optional). For the first time, Ford has updated the Tremec gearbox with rev-matching and Mustang GT’s twin-disc clutch and a short-throw shifter. The 10-speed automatic transmission with an upgraded torque converter and a new calibration with optimized performance and shift character is optional.
Recognizing the 2021 Mustang Mach 1 will be easy thanks to unique design elements. At the front, they include the model-specific grille with a deep 3-D mesh. It also features a new two-piece upper grille, a redesigned lower grille, and new side grilles. An optional Mach 1 Handling Package with up to 150 percent more downforce is featured. Unfortunately for automatic fans, that Handling Package is available only with the six-speed manual.
Moving inside you’ll find a new splash screen for the instrument cluster. A Mach 1-specific shifter, new sill plates, and a plaque with the chassis number. Recaro seats will be available, but other interior options are unknown at this time. Price and production numbers are also unknown, though the Mach 1 will be “relatively limited.
