Genesis G90’s Distinctive Clamshell Bonnet Is The World’s Largest In Mass Vehicle Production

Flagship Genesis G90 sedan’s distinctive clamshell bonnet is the world’s largest in mass vehicle production.
2.6 square meters wide clamshell seamlessly integrates the bonnet and front wings and eliminates panel gaps.
The panel is larger than a standard door frame and the equivalent of 45 pieces of A4 paper (or 450 post-it notes).
Genesis Motors, the Hyundai luxury car division, has revealed that its flagship G90 sedan comes with a distinctive Clamshell Bonnet crafted by Genesis’ industry-leading expertise in body panel pressing and roller hemming.
At 2.6 square meters wide (4,030 square inches), Genesis said the G90’s aluminium clamshell is the biggest single panel currently in global mass vehicle production.
The panel seamlessly integrates the bonnet and front wings and eliminates panel gaps. By comparison, the size of the panel is larger than a standard door frame and the equivalent of 45 pieces of A4 paper (or 450 post-it notes).

G90’s distinctive Clamshell Bonnet complements its trademark Two-Line headlamps and a bold Crest Grille consisting of two G-Matrix patterns – both of which combines to form the signature Genesis wing emblem.
“With G90, I wanted to emphasise the youthful sense and delicate design elements in the styling of the vehicle. The clamshell bonnet perfectly encapsulates this; a timeless automotive design feature applied with a new, bold approach to create something unique yet elegant.” commented Jin Kim, Senior Researcher at the Genesis Design Team.
The flagship G90 sedan is designed to deliver an exceptionally smooth ride and true first-class experience. It is currently available in four-seater G90 or four-seater G90 Long Wheelbase (LWB).
The G90 is priced at 115,00€ ($121,185) while the G90 Long Wheelbase starts at 125,000€ ($131,720). Sales for the G90 flagship sedan began in Germany and Switzerland on 26th September 2023.
