Honda Civic Hybrid Wins 2025 North America Car Of The Year

The 2025 North American Car of the Year is the Honda Civic Hybrid. This award is the longest-running new-vehicle honours that is not tied to a single publication. It was decided by 50 automotive journalists from various outlets across the U.S. and Canada, who voted the Civic Hybrid as the top car in North America.

Established in 1994, the awards aim to highlight the most exceptional new vehicles of the year. These vehicles are considered benchmarks in their segments. They are evaluated on criteria such as innovation, design, safety, handling, driver satisfaction, user experience, and value.

With a total of 205 votes, the Civic Hybrid secured the unanimous victory for North America’s most prestigious automotive accolade. Jurors praised the compact sedan’s “superb and fuel-efficient hybrid system,” describing it as “fun, fuel-efficient, and more elegant than its predecessors.” This marks the fourth time the Civic won the North American Car of the Year. The Civic has won it in 2006, 2016, and 2022.





Meanwhile, with 183 votes, the Ford Ranger is the North American Truck of the Year. Jurors noted it being have a “solid and refined chassis” as well as offering “plenty of utility plus an added dose of comfort and convenience.”
Finally, the Volkswagen ID. Buzz is the North American Utility Vehicle of the Year with 187 votes. Jurors say it is “an inspired Volkswagen design for the ages.”
