Jaguar Is Discontinuing All Petrol Models By 2025
The UK’s biggest car brand is phasing out all its petrol models and fast-tracking a switch to all-electric vehicles by 2025.
You guessed it, it’s Jaguar. The move is part of the luxury automaker’s “Reimagine Plan,” which aims to establish an all-electric future by combining sustainability and luxury. This means that the production of internal combustion engines will be suspended by the end of this year, according to Index.hr.
The first electric Jaguar will be a GT with four doors, and it is speculated that it will produce over 600 HP.
Britain’s biggest carmaker is kicking off its zero-carbon target by 2039 by decarbonising its manufacturing operations, vehicles in use and supply chain.
End-user emissions account for almost 70 percent of car production. Switching to electric vehicles that use renewable energy is a simple approach to reducing carbon emissions, according to Jaguar.
The company claims that its lead in the transition to fully electric vehicles will result in 80 percent of Jaguar Land Rover’s (JLR) sales being battery electric vehicles (BEVs) by 2030.
“Our vehicles are and continue to be at the forefront of the all-electric automotive future. This facility, the most important component of our ‘Reimagine Strategy’, is critical to providing advanced testing capabilities, which will be vital to the performance and reliability of the modern luxury vehicles we proudly develop,” said Thomas Mueller, executive director of manufacturing engineering at Jaguar Land Rover.
