Jeep Takes Swipe At Tesla Model Y With Wagoneer S In Latest Video
Jeep is charging into the electric vehicle market with the all-new Wagoneer S, a luxurious SUV designed to challenge Tesla’s dominance. Slated for its grand debut on May 30th, this electric addition to Jeep’s lineup promises to deliver impressive performance, a generous range exceeding 483 km, and cutting-edge features.
In a just-released teaser video, Jeep showcases the Wagoneer S in a head-to-head battle against the Tesla Model Y Performance, emphasizing its superior acceleration. The Wagoneer S boasts an impressive 600 horsepower and 836 Nm of torque, propelling it from 0 to 97 km/h in a mere 3.4 seconds—a fraction faster than its Tesla rival and even quicker than Jeep’s own discontinued Grand Cherokee Trackhawk.
While Tesla holds the crown for America’s best-selling EV brand, Jeep’s Wagoneer S aims to disrupt the market with its superior range. With an estimated 483 km of range, it outperforms the Model Y Performance’s 449 km. Jeep suggests that this difference is making the Wagoneer S a more appealing option for those seeking long-distance driving capabilities, but 32 km, while significant, isn’t really a revolution.
Beyond impressive performance figures, the Wagoneer S promises a luxurious and technologically advanced driving experience. Its sleek, aerodynamic design features an illuminated seven-slot grille, a nod to Jeep’s iconic heritage. Inside the cabin, drivers will find a digital instrument cluster, a widescreen infotainment system, a front passenger display, and a dedicated display for climate control and seat settings.
Additional highlights include a panoramic sunroof, customizable ambient lighting, and a premium 19-speaker McIntosh audio system. The Wagoneer S also features a rotary shifter and a Selec-Terrain toggle, allowing drivers to effortlessly switch between various driving modes, including Sand, Snow, Eco, Auto, and Sport.
Built on the STLA Large platform, the Wagoneer S will be Jeep’s first global electric vehicle, launching in the United States this fall before expanding to other markets. While pricing details have yet to be revealed, it’s expected to be a premium offering, targeting buyers seeking a blend of luxury, performance, and eco-consciousness.
