NBS releases data showing prices of petrol in April 2024 compared to April 2023, States and Regions that paid more.

The average retail price paid in April 2024 was N701.24, which is 176.02% compared to the N254.06 recorded in April 2023.

Kogi, Nasarawa and Zamfara had the highest average retail price with N797.78, N778.89 and N754.29, respectively.

Lagos, Niger and Ogun had the lowest average retail price with N602.55, N633.75 and N647.14 respectively.

The average retail price paid by consumers for Premium Motor Spirit (petrol) during the month of April 2024 was N701.24, according to the latest data released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) .

This represents an increase of 0.64% compared to the N696.79 recorded a month earlier in March 2024 and 176.02% when compared to the N254.06 recorded in April 2023, the latter before fuel subsidy removal.

At N797.78 (not N767.78), Kogi State had the highest average retail price for petrol on the State profile analysis, followed by Nasarawa and Zamfara States with N778.89 and N754.29, respectively.

Nigerian States that had the lowest average retail prices for Premium Motor Spirit (Petrol) were Lagos, Niger and Ogun, with N602.55, N633.75 and N647.14 respectively.

On the Zonal profile, the North East, North West and South East Zone had the highest average retail price with N734.70, N714.20 and N706.98, while the South West Zone had the lowest price of N655.66.
