Kwara Customs Arrest 2 Using Identical Number Plates To Smuggle Stolen Vehicles From Lagos
Customs in Kwara busts syndicate using identical number plates to smuggle stolen vehicles from Lagos.
Command showcased a Land Cruiser and a Hiace bus stolen from Lagos that were fitted with same plate number.
Kwara Command of Customs said that the vehicles would be handed over to the Lagos State Police Command.
The Kwara Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) said it has arrested two suspects who are members of a syndicate using Identical Plate Numbers to smuggle stolen vehicles.
The Customs Area Controller, Kwara Command, Kehinde Ilesanmi, disclosed on Tuesday during a news conference in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.
During the press briefing, the suspects and two vehicles, a Toyota Land Cruiser and a Hiace bus, reportedly stolen from Lagos and fitted with the same plate number, were showcased.
Why warning smugglers to steer clear of Kwara, he said that the recovered vehicles would be handed over to the representative of the Lagos State Police Command.

He said :
“A 2010 model Toyota Land Cruiser with registration number, Lagos EPE-911- HH, was intercepted in June at Chikanda, Kosubosu area of Kwara State.
“Investigation revealed that the number belonged to a Toyota Hiace which heightened our curiosity. A month later, our officers intercepted a Toyota Hiace with the same number heading towards Benin Republic.
“It was later established that the two vehicles were stolen, which we are handing over to the representative of the Lagos State Police Command here today.
“This handing over of suspected stolen vehicles which were intercepted by officers and men of the command is an intervention that is in furtherance of the synergy that has been in place between the NCS and the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).
