Lockdown: See How Roads In Cities Of The World Now Look Like
When it comes to infectious disease outbreaks, cities play a central role in the spread of pandemics. The spread and transmission of infectious disease are high in cities due to high rate of human activities and contacts.
Today, roughly 4 billion people live in cities. That is more than half of the world’s population.
As the novel coronavirus continues to spread, some countries are putting their citizens on lockdown.
“Lockdown” refers to anything from mandatory geographic quarantines to non-mandatory recommendations to stay at home and closures of certain types of businesses or bans on events and gatherings.
So far, Italy, China, and El Salvador are three countries that have implemented the largest and most restrictive mass quarantines.
Wuhan, China, where the virus first appeared, was on lockdown for more than six weeks. Just like Wuhan, many cities have instituted lockdown and travel restrictions.
Since the outbreak of the CoronaVirus pandemic, more than 164,565 people have died from the virus worldwide. And over 2,395,636 people have been infected around the world.
Currently, several countries around the world are implementing measures to slow the spread of the novel coronavirus. Some of the measures include national quarantines and lockdowns.
