Maserati Unveils GranCabrio Folgore Electric Convertible

on

This is the Maserati GranCabrio Folgore. There are not that many electric convertibles yet, but there are a few convertibles with so much power.

Earlier this year, we were introduced to the brand new Maserati GranCabrio, and we were still waiting for its electric version, the Maserati GranCabrio Folgore. That wait is now rewarded because tonight Maserati will pull back the curtain in the Italian coastal town of Rimini. The recipe for the Maserati GranCabrio Folgore has been secretly known for a while. Not only do we already know the GranCabrio with fuel engines, but the closed version, the GranTurismo, is also available as Folgore.

The GranCabrio Folgore has the same drivetrain. This means that three electric motors together provide 750 hp of power, no less than 1,350 Nm of torque, and even a temporary peak power of 830 hp. This is transferred to the road via all four wheels. The Maserati GranCabrio Folgore is therefore not only special because it is an electric convertible, but also because it is simply a bizarrely strong open car. He is in the water of the exceptionally strong Ferrari 812 GTS and Mercedes-AMG SL 63 E Performance.

So you can screw on your toupee well because, although the air flows are probably well directed around the seats, you can lose it just by pressing the accelerator. The Maserati GranCabrio Folgore accelerates  from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.8 seconds, from 0 to 200 km/h in 9.1 seconds and reaches a top speed of 290 km/h. You can open and close the roof up to a speed of 50 km/h, closing it in 16 seconds and opening it in 14 seconds.

And what about the electric range? Well, the Maserati GranCabrio Folgore, just like the GranTurismo Folgore, has a 92.5 kWh battery pack with an 83 kWh usable capacity, which in this case should allow up to 449 km of driving range (WLTP). Recharging is possible with up to 270 kW of charging power at the fast charger, and you can then charge from 20 to 80 percent in about 18 minutes, or about 100 km of driving range in five minutes. More impressive specs? We have that for you. The Maserati GranCabrio Folgore has torque vectoring to ensure the best possible turnaround, Brembo brakes with six-piston callipers at the front and four-piston callipers at the rear, and air suspension is also available. The weight is also impressive, although that is not immediately positive: the almost five-meter-long convertible weighs 2,340 kilos.
