Mercedes-AMG A 35 And CLA 35 Gets The Edition 55 Treatment
Mercedes-AMG has added two special edition packages to its line-up to celebrate 55 years since the inception of the performance brand. The Mercedes-AMG A35 and Mercedes-AMG CLA 35 can both now be ordered with an Edition 55 package, which adds a unique design and upgraded standard equipment.
Currently available for order in Europe, the special editions are equipped with an AMG Aerodynamics Package that includes a front splitter, flics, a rear wing, and a blade-style diffuser.
The models have also been equipped with the AMG Night and Night II Packages, which see high-gloss black accents applied to the mirrors and window surrounds. They’re joined by black chrome tailpipes, tinted windows, and dark badging.
On the inside, both models have upholstery in a two-tone mix of red and black leather. Dinamica faux suede covers the steering wheel, and there’s a “55 AMG” logo at the 6 o’clock position. The floor mats have “Edition 55” branding in red. The door sill tread plates have an illuminated AMG logo. Two paint colours are available – Cosmos Black Metallic and Digital White Metallic – and both special editions sit on a set of 19-inch alloy wheels finished in grey. Buyers will also find side graphics and a chrome fuel filler cap with AMG lettering.
The turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine remains untouched, so it still develops 302 hp (306 ps / 225 kW) and 295 lb-ft (400 Nm) of torque. The A 35 hot hatch needs 4.7 seconds to hit 62 mph (100 kph) from a standstill and will top out at 155 mph (250 kph).
The special edition package costs an additional €12,614 and can be ordered until November. Those willing to take the plunge will also receive an AMG indoor car cover, which features a breathable black outer layer complete with a contrasting silver AMG logo.
