Today’s Mercedes-Maybach S 600 ultra-luxury sedan is one of few successors of the classic Mercedes-Benz 600.

Famous owners includes Idi Amin, Saddam Hussein, Mobutu Sese Seko, Kim Jong-il, Muammar Gaddafi, and Richard Nixon.

Picture shared shows bodyguards working hard to remove a 7,000 pounds Mercedes-Benz 600 limousine belonging to President Mzee Jomo Kenyatta of Kenya after getting stuck in a muddy and untarred road.

Jomo Kenyatta was Kenya’s founding president, who governed Kenya as its Prime Minister from 1963 to 1964 and then as its first President from 1964 to his death in 1978. During the Queen’s many visits to the country, she rode along with President Kenyatta in the two-door Mercedes-Benz 600 limousine.

Kenyatta’s favorite Mercedes-Benz 600 (W100), popularly known as Grosser Mercedes (Grand Mercedes), was the car of choice for affluent celebrities and powerful world leaders.

According to local news report, Jomo Kenyatta’s iconic Mercedes-Benz 600 limousine now resides in the new Uhuru Gardens Museum after being transferred from the State House, Nairobi.

Mzee Jomo Kenyatta’s well preserved classic Mercedes-Benz limousine is now on display at the Uhuru Gardens, where it is being protected by the Kenya Defence Forces.

The Mercedes-Benz 600 was produced between1964 and 1981, during which a total of 2,677 units were produced, comprising 2,190 Saloons, 304 Pullmans, 124 6-door Pullmans and 59 Landaulets.

Famous world leaders who also rode in the Grand limousine includes Idi Amin, Saddam Hussein, Mobutu Sese Seko, Kim Jong-il, François “Papa Doc” Duvalier, Muammar Gaddafi, and Richard Nixon, the latter, the 37th president of the United States.
