Porsche’s 1,100 Hp Taycan Turbo GT Has Been Officially Released
The Porsche 911 is still considered the sporty crème de la crème within the brand, but the Taycan is hot on its heels. Especially this one, the more than 1,100-hp Porsche Taycan Turbo GT.
Highlights
- Up to 1,108 hp strong
- From 0-100 km/h in 2.2 seconds
- Faster than the Model S Plaid on the Nordschleife
The Porsche Taycan shouldn’t get in the way of the 911, but sometimes it does so a little due to its performance. The Taycan Turbo S in particular is particularly potent and has already made a big impression on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife. Now, however, Porsche is (as expected) with a Taycan that even makes the Turbo S pale: the Turbo GT. Behind that slightly different type of name lies a world of difference. In principle, the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT already produces 789 hp, which is more than the Turbo S, but with activated launch control, you even have 1,034 hp at your disposal. Then the cake is not over yet, because with overboost, you can increase the power to 1,108 hp for a maximum of two seconds. The maximum torque is 1,340 Nm.
It has an insane amount of power, but what good is it? Well, among other things, it ensures that the Taycan Turbo GT shoots from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.3 seconds. With the optional Weissach package, this drops slightly to 2.2 seconds, which is two-tenths faster than with the Turbo S. From 0 to 200 km/h, you have 6.6, or (with the Weisach package) 6, respectively. It takes 4 seconds, and in the latter case, the difference with the Turbo S is even 1.3 seconds. You’ll just need it. The top speed is also 305 km/h instead of the 295 km/h of the Turbo S. Do you still have some driving range left? Yes, 555 km, according to the WLTP cycle.
More Than Just Stronger Electric Motors
Of course, the Taycan Turbo GT is not just a Turbo S with stronger electric motors. There is even more going on underneath because he also needs to be able to hold his own a little better in the corners. To start with, it has the Dynamic package as standard with a Porsche Active Ride suspension specially tailored to this version. It also has lighter 21-inch wheels and lighter brakes, which all in all contributes to a total weight reduction of 75 kilos compared to the Turbo S. This is further due to the more extensive use of carbon fibre and lighter bucket seats. With the Weissach package, the weight can be reduced by another 70 kilos, partly because the rear seat, floor mats, and Sport Chrono clock are missing and there is less sound insulation. Less weight and a differently adjusted chassis alone are not enough. The Porsche Taycan Turbo GT has various aerodynamic features. For example, there are extra wings on the nose and the Taycan Turbo GT has a large adaptive rear spoiler with a ‘Gurney Flap’ at the back.
The price of the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT, both with and without the Weissach package, is close to €249,900.
