Railway Project: Lagos State Govt To Close Akanni Doherty Street

The Lagos State Government has announced the temporary closure of Akanni Doherty Street, in Agege, Lagos from Friday, 28th to Sunday, 30th June, 2019 as part of the construction process for the on-going Nigerian Railway Modernisation Project.
In a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Transportation, Dr. Taiwo Olufemi Salaam, the closure is to allow the contractors of the project, CCECC and Devine Gate LTD, relocate and interconnect the 700mm diameter public water mains along the route.
It explained further that the exercise will also involve excavation across the specified road, as well as laying of High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) pipes, backfilling and compaction.
The statement, therefore, advised all motorists and the general public to use alternative routes around the area in order to ensure hitch-free traffic.
