Range Rover Evoque And Velar Will Not Be Having New Models

Published

on

The Range Rover Evoque is a modern entry into the world of this brand. But the second generation will be the last. The Range Rover Evoque and Range Rover Velar will not get successors when their production ends.

This will leave the announced Range Rover GT as well as the Range Rover Sport as two similarly priced entry points into JLR’s luxury brand.

Range Rover brand boss Martin Limpert has confirmed to Autocar that production of the Evoque and Velar will continue through 2027, but both models are nearing the end of their lives after around a decade in production, with neither developing a successor.

The shutdown of these model lines is partly a consequence of JLR’s “House of Brands” strategy, according to which Range Rover, Defender and Discovery were separated as independent brands, separate from the parent brand Land Rover. Given the luxury positioning of the Range Rover and the expanded role of the Defender and Discovery models – where the Defender range will soon be joined by a new entry-level model called the Defender Sport (smaller than the Defender) – the Range Rover will no longer cover such a large market segment. Instead, the Range Rover will focus on the luxury market segment, while the smaller and more affordable models will remain in the domain of the Defender and Discovery brands.
