Stellantis Denies Plans To Put Italian Brand Maserati Up For Sale
Stellantis is scratching its head because some of its brands are not performing as desired. Maserati is one of them and could therefore possibly be put up for sale, but Stellantis does not want to hear anything about that yet.
It has not been a quiet summer for Stellantis, as it has had a rather disappointing half-year. For that reason, the mega-concern is even considering its options to divest poorly performing brands. We are thinking of DS, for example, which is perhaps still somewhat easy to miss given its short existence, but the legendary Maserati also does not seem safe. There were immediate rumours that Maserati would even be half in the showroom at Stellantis because CFO Natalie Knight spoke about a ‘possible another home’ for the brand. Now Stellantis is going back on that.
The French-Italian-American concern emphasizes in a statement to the international press that things are not going that fast. In fact, Stellantis says it has ‘no intention to sell Maserati’, nor does it want to place it with ‘another Italian luxury group’. With the latter, the concern undoubtedly refers to Ferrari. Stellantis states that Maserati is in an important transition phase to a more electric offering, and it expects a lot from that.
