Suzuki has announced that it has reached a major milestone: 10 million units of the urban Swift have been sold globally. The model started its global journey under this name in 2004. Although it was born much earlier under the Cultus name, the Swift name was one of several used for export to certain markets.

However, his official global journey under this successful name began in November 2004 in Japan. Four months later, the Swift hit the assembly lines of the Hungarian factory, followed by those in India, China, Pakistan, and Ghana.

During that time, the Suzuki Swift has reached more than 170 countries and has now reached the milestone of 10 million units sold globally. This achievement comes 20 years and 8 months after the debut of the first-generation Swift.

According to data provided by the Asian brand, 60 percent of all Swifts ever produced were sold in India, 14 percent in Europe, 8 percent in Japan, and 18 percent in other markets. Around six million units have been sold in India since 2005.

Looking back, the first million units were sold four years after its debut. In 2011, the Swift reached the milestone of two million units sold, and in 2013, the milestone of three million units sold worldwide.

In August 2014, the 4 millionth model left the assembly line, and in 2016, the 5 millionth.

Suzuki Swift reached 6 million units sold in 2018, 7 million in 2019, 8 million in 2021, and 9 million units sold worldwide in 2023.
