Suzuki S-Presso : 2022 NAJA’s ‘Budget Car Of The Year’, The Most Popular Vehicle On The Nigerian Road
Suzuki S-Presso voted the ‘Budget Car of the Year’ at this year’s 2022 Nigeria Auto Journalists Association (NAJA) awards.
Thanks to its affordability, the Suzuki S-Presso is arguably the most popular vehicle on the Nigerian road.
S-Presso for African markets tested by Global NCAP was awarded 3 stars for adult occupants, 2 stars for child occupants.
Earlier in the year, the Suzuki S-Presso Mini SUV clinched the ‘Budget Car of the Year’ at this year’s 2022 Nigeria Auto Journalists Association (NAJA) Awards which was held in Lagos on February 9th 2023.
Thanks to its affordability, the S-Presso has become so popular among Nigerians, making the mini-Suzuki arguably the most popular vehicle on the road since its introduction into the Nigerian market in 2021.
The partnership between CFAO Motors Nigeria, the sole distributor of Suzuki cars in Nigeria, and Moove, the world’s first mobility fintech, also contributed to the increase in number of mini SUVs on Lagos’ streets and other parts of the country.
During the unveiling of the Suzuki micro SUV into the Nigerian market in 2021, Aissatou Diouf, the General Manager, CFAO Motors – Suzuki, stated that :
“We have just unveiled the S-Presso model, the first micro SUV in Nigeria which will be sold for as low as N5.5 million. Indeed, Suzuki is quickly becoming Naija’s ‘Way of life’.”

The Suzuki S-Presso is an Indian-made city car with several crossover-inspired design elements. It is marketed as a “micro SUV” or a “mini crossover” and exported to several emerging markets in Africa, South Asia, Southeast Asia, Latin America and the Middle East.
The Suzuki S-Presso for African markets, including Nigeria, was tested in South Africa by Global NCAP and awarded 3 stars for adult occupants and 2 stars for child occupants in H1 2022.
This version of S-Presso was equipped with two SRS airbags for both driver and passenger and seat belt with pretensioner and load limiters which enhances passenger safety in case of an impact.
The 2022 Suzuki S Presso is powered by a K10C engine that provides 66-horsepower and 89Nm of torque. It has a Front-wheel drive and AGS-speed automatic transmission.
Pricing of the fast-selling Suzuki S-Presso starts at around ₦5.5 million when the Mini SUV was first introduced into the Nigerian market in 2021, but unconfirmed reports put the current MRSP price at over ₦6 million.
