Tesla’s Gigafactory In China Celebrated Its 4 Millionth Vehicle
Tesla’s Shanghai gigafactory celebrated a significant milestone on December 8, when its 4 millionth vehicle—the Model YL in Starlight Gold—rolled off the assembly line.
According to Tesla’s official statement, “It took just under 14 months to go from 3 million to 4 million vehicles. Over the past 6 years, the Shanghai Gigafactory has accounted for nearly half of Tesla’s global electric vehicle shipments.”
This achievement solidifies the Shanghai facility’s critical position in Tesla’s global manufacturing network.

Production started on January 7, 2019
Millionth vehicle: produced on August 15, 2022 (1,316 days from start)
2 millionth vehicle: produced on September 6, 2023 (387 days after the millionth)
3 millionth vehicle: produced on October 24, 2024 (414 days after the 2 millionth)
4 millionth vehicle: produced on December 8, 2025 (411 days after the 3 millionth)
