Top-of-the-line supercars can put a “deep hole” in the household budget when it comes to maintenance and repairs, but there are also technological perfections on wheels that are so special and rare that the costs are not only high but simply enormous. writes Fenix Magazine.
This category includes hypercars such as the Pagani Utopia or Bugatti Chiron, for which replacement headlights were offered on eBay for just under 150,000 euros.
Another car in that league is the Mercedes-AMG One, which was built in 275 units. The purchase price of at least three million euros is not enough. You also have to afford service and spare parts.
That’s why you’ll rarely see the Mercedes-AMG One on the road: the two-seater plug-in hybrid super sports car is limited to a small series, and what’s special is the power unit from a Formula 1 racing car, almost literally transferred to a road car.
With a total output of 1063 hp, the car accelerates to 300 km/h in 15.6 seconds. One of the few owners who has a Mercedes-AMG One in his garage is automotive influencer and YouTuber Gercollector. In a video, he now talks about everything—and not only tells us how much the service costs but also how much you have to pay for some spare parts.
Very Expensive Matainance
According to Gercollector, whose real name is Michael Spegel, you should avoid scratching the rims of your vehicle as much as possible. His AMG One is equipped with the Motorsport package, which means magnesium wheels are mounted with carbon aerofoils and cost €21,300 each.
This means that a set of four wheels costs more than 85,000 euros. The collector emphasizes that he could easily get a well-equipped BMW M2 for that. On the other hand, the “standard” alloy wheels for the AMG One are almost cheap: they cost “only” 9,100 euros each.
But Spegel also shares the prices of other spare parts, so we learn that the engine cover costs 37,000 euros, the front bumper 48,000 euros, and the rear diffuser 53,000 euros.
The windshield is relatively affordable and according to collectors, costs 2100 euros. For comparison: on the legendary McLaren F1, changing the windshield costs more than 30,000 euros.
Spegel also has a receipt for the first annual service of his Mercedes-AMG One. As he explains, two special technicians for the AMG One spend a week working on the service. Everything on the vehicle is checked, and fluids and filters are changed – at “Formula 1 level,” as Gercollector emphasizes. The price is also on this level: a total of 80 hours of work at 380 euros each, which amounts to more than 30,000 euros. “Total madness,” says Spegel.
