George Herbert Walker Bush, who served as the 41st president of the United States from 1989 to 1993 used an 1989 armored Lincoln Town Car Limousine during his 4 year tenure as number one citizen of the United States.
In honor of Presidents Day, a federal holiday which falls on the third Monday (Feb. 20th) of February, Autojosh looks back at the armored customized 1989 Lincoln Town Car that was delivered to the White House in January of that year.
The 22 feet (6.7 meters) long and more than 5 feet (1.5 meters) tall armored Presidential State Car worth $600,000 was a modified 1989 Lincoln Town Car.
It featured a 7.5-liter Ford F-250 Heavy Duty pickup truck engine, an interior embossed with the presidential seal as well as armor plating to safeguard the President against attacks from short-range and long-range weapons.
The 1989 Lincoln Town Car-based Presidential State Car is now on display at the former president’s George Bush Presidential Library and Museum in College Station, Texas.
