Volkswagen Touareg Gets New Exterior And Interior Upgrades For 2024
Volkswagen unveiled its facelifted Touareg some five years after the third-generation model first went on sale. The upmarket SUV, a sister model to the Audi Q7 and Porsche Cayenne (alongside which it’s produced at Volkswagen’s Bratislava plant in Slovakia) receives a series of exterior design upgrades as well as a reworked interior with new digital functionality across lines: Elegance and R-Line. A third, entry-level, model will be available in the German market.
In terms of visuals, the SUV’s design has been updated with a revised front fascia encompassing a different grille, a new apron, and fancier optional matrix headlights that VW refers to as “IQ.LIGHT HD LED”. These new headlamps encompass more than 38,000 interactive LEDs that project a carpet of light directly onto the driving lane. VW says they illuminate the road more precisely than any of its previous headlight technologies and include a glare-free main beam. The taillights have also been tweaked to incorporate the same trio of L-shaped elements.
Inside, Volkswagen has finally added padded surfaces to either side of the center console. The top sections of the interior door panels also have double decorative seams. Volkswagen says the Touareg’s Innovision Cockpit now has the latest hardware and software. It continues to use a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and 15-inch touchscreen infotainment system, situated in the same assembly for a wraparound effect. Improvements to the infotainment system include lane-level navigation and high-resolution HD map data, as well as wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
