Truck, cars and SUV manufacturers just love to show off their vehicle abilities in unusual ways. Some make headlines during their car unveiling for outrageous and sometimes hilarious commercials and stunts in an attempt to grab attention.

Below are eight of JaguarLandRover’s most extraordinary car stunts and launches of the last few years.

1) Jaguar’s F-pace breaks world record with loop-the-loop

The unveiling of F-pace in 2015 was accompanied by a record-breaking publicity stunt, with an F-Pace achieving a Guinness world record for the largest ever loop-the-loop achieved by a car.

Stunt driver Terry Grant successfully completed a 19.08 metre tall, 360 degree circle. Grant had to withstand a G-Force more severe than that experienced by space shuttle pilots to complete the stunt.

2) The riskiest car launch ever was the arrival of the new Jaguar E-Pace

New Jaguar E-Pace set a Guinness World Record title, completing an epic 15.3 metre-long jump with a 270-degree corkscrew-like ‘barrel roll’ in London.

And it was stunt driver Terry Grant at the wheel for the record attempt with Guinness. World Records adjudicators on hand to present the certificate for the “Furthest Barrel Roll in a Production Vehicle”.

3) F-PACE in spectacular 2-wheel stunt

After setting the Guinness World Record for the world’s biggest loop-the-loop at its launch, the very same record-breaking F-PACE and stunt driver Terry Grant teamed up again with professional freestyle motorbike stunt rider Lee Bowers for a thrilling drive at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, West Sussex, England.

4) The 2nd generation Jaguar XF was revealed in 2015,in a dramatic high-wire water crossing

Stuntman Jim Dowdall, a veteran of Bond and Bourne movies, drove the car across London’s Royal Victoria docks on two 34mm-diameter wires suspended high in the air.

According to Jaguar, the stunt was designed to highlight how light the new car is, thanks to its aluminium structure, which it shares with the smaller XE saloon.

5) Driving a Land Rover through a decommissioned Boeing 747

To illustrate the Sport’s suspension articulation and supreme off-road abilities, Land Rover built a unique test track inside a Boeing 747. The track encompasses steep grades, Defenders to dodge and angled ramps.

6) Range Rover Evoque Skate Park Car Stunt

Land Rover Experience team, China, put the Range Rover Evoque to the ultimate test in a gravity-defying display in Asia’s biggest skate park. Demonstrating the vehicle’s agility and unrivalled terrain response in the heart of Shanghai. The vehicle was driven by a professional Land Rover Experience driver from the Huzhou centre.

7) Bear Grylls skydives while remotely adjusting a Land Rover’s seats on a Discovery which was waiting on the ground.

The stunt saw Grylls and six members of the Royal Navy Parachute Display Team freefall while Grylls used Land Rover’s new InControl app to remotely fold the five rearmost seats up and out of their folded position.

8) Unveiling of 2015 Jaguar XE

The new Jaguar XE was unveiled after being delivered to Earls Court by helicopter and high-speed landing craft down the Thames, then escorted by 1960s Mark II Jaguar Police cars.

Even with the marketing hype, I can say I’m honestly impressed.

What do you think about the stunts?
