2 Enugu Rangers players dies in autocrash after their car ran into broken down articulated vehicle along the Onitsha-Agbor-Benin road.

The players were returning to Lagos following the suspension of the Nigerian Professional Football League due to coronavirus outbreak.

Two Enugu Rangers International players, Ifeanyi George and Emmanuel Ogbu, have died on Sunday in a motor accident while travelling to Lagos from Enugu.





Both players, who were travelling along with another member of the team, died on the spot after the car they were traveling in ran into a broken down articulated vehicle along the Onitsha-Agbor-Benin road.

The deceased players were returning to Lagos following the suspension of the Nigerian Professional Football League due to coronavirus outbreak.

Chairman of League Management Company (LMC) Shehu Dikko described the development as saddening.

He said in condolence message posted on the NPFL website that :

“We sympathise with the club at this trying time and pray for the repose of his soul and wish the injured ones a speedy recovery,”

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) also commiserated with the Enugu-based club on the demise of its two players.





NFF said in a tweet that :

“We are shocked to hear of the sad passing of striker Ifeanyi George and Emmanuel Ogbu players of @rangersint,”

“Both players were involved in a fatal auto crash earlier on Sunday. Our prayers and thoughts are with their families and Rangers’ Mgt. May their souls Rest In Peace.”
