2024 Facelifted Nissan Sentra Showcased In China As Sylphy
Moving into the fifth year of its current generation, the Nissan Sentra is due for a facelift. From the look of things, that update is coming next year in the form of a refreshed interior with an updated infotainment screen. We’re looking at the China-market Nissan Sylphy and picking up hints to predict changes for the Sentra.
The grille is slightly larger and features a different pattern for each of the powertrain variants. It is combined with slimmer bumper intakes and more modern graphics for the headlights. The profile is carried over with the exception of the 15- or 16-inch alloy wheels, while the tail got a sportier bumper with decorative inlets. In the back, a new LED pattern fills the taillights. Below, the side creases are gone, and a piece of chrome trim separates the redrawn and wider diffuser area now incorporating the reflectors. We’re told the accessories menu will include things like sill extensions and an illuminated grille emblem.
Inside spots a 12.3-inch HD infotainment touchscreen and what looks like a row of haptic control buttons running along the bottom. The new display is considerably larger than the 7.0- and 8.0-inch screens available in the current Sentra. Still, the analog instrument cluster is carried over, as with the climate controls and the multifunction three-spoke steering wheel. Finally, the model benefits from an extended ADAS suite giving it Level 2 autonomous capabilities.
Powering the Sylphy is a 1.6-liter four-cylinder petrol producing 137 hp and 117 lb-ft of torque, sending power to the front axle exclusively through a CVT transmission. The more efficient E-Power self-charging hybrid powertrain gets a naturally-aspirated 1.2-liter engine that works as a generator for the lithium-ion battery and the electric motor. The latter produces 134 hp and 221 lb-ft of torque, again moving the front wheels.
