4hrs By Road To Just 90 Mins By Train : Lagos Blue Line User Narrates Live-Saving Experience
4hours by road to just 90 minutes by train : Lagos Blue Line train user narrates live-saving experience.
Presently, two train sets run 54 trips along the 13-kms stretch between Marina and Mile 2 area of the state.
Most Lagosians are already seeing the benefits of the recently launched Blue Line Rail System in terms of safer and faster commute across the trains eight-mile (13-kilometers) stretch between Marina and Mile 2 area of the state.
Unlike before, Lagosians can now avoid the hour-long road traffic in the typically congested city and go for a 28 minutes ride on the Blue Line Rail as shared by Nnaemeka Amanze.
Speaking on his life-saving experience in an X (formerly Twitter) post shared by the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA), Nnaemeka Amanze said :
“This Lagos Train is a life saver. It was 4:30 pm today and I needed to get something at Lagos Island. The guy said he was closing by 5:30. I tried to get a delivery guy but he said tomorrow. I rushed down to Mile 2 Train Station. Borded the Train and was at his shop at exactly 5:15.
“Went back to Marina Station and got to my house before 6pm. Before now, the journey would take me 3 to 4hrs depending on the type of Lagos madness that day. You can imagine if this is replicated across the state and federation.”
The Lagos Rail Mass Transit system is expected to transport 250,000 passengers daily during the first phase of the project and up to 500,000 passengers daily when the entire 27km track from Marina to Okokomaiko is completed.
Presently, two train sets run 54 trips along the 13-kilometers stretch between Marina and Mile 2 to minimize the incidence of commuters rushing to enter the train. A full ride costs N750 naira and lasts about 28 minutes, including 90-second stop at each station.
