Nasarawa State government repatriates 788 almajiris to their home states.
The Governor said the move was aimed to curtail the spread of the deadly COVID-19 disease.
The buses conveying the Almajiris were headed to Jigawa, Plateau, Kaduna, Gombe, and Taraba states.
Nasarawa State government has repatriated no fewer than 788 almajiris to their various home states amidst Covid-19 pandemic.
This was disclosed by Nasarawa State Governor, Mr Andullahi Sule, while addressing the first batch of the almajiris from the southern zone of the state on Sunday.
According to Governor Sule, the agreement to repatriate the almajiris was reached when the northern governors met recently in Abuja to curtail the spread of the deadly COVID-19.
Biding farewell to the almajiris in Government Science Schools, Lafia, the governor said the move was in good intention and not in bad motive.
He added that the essence was for their parents to take proper care of them.
He said :
“The plan to repatriate the almajiris is of good intention and not in bad motive.”
Governor Sule said that this is the first batch of the Almajiris from the southern part of the state.
According to reports, buses conveying the Almajiris were heading to Jigawa, Plateau, Kaduna, Gombe, and Taraba states.
Last week Kano returned about 600 Almajiris studying in their states to Nasarawa State.
